POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:  Secondary Assistant Principal

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  2. Valid administrative certificate
  3. At least three years successful teaching experience.
  4. Demonstrated computer aptitude.
  5. Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of assignment and willingness to serve in any school unit within the school district.

OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist the principal in the overall administration of the school. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Follows local, state and federal law and adheres to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
  2. Serves as acting principal in the absence of the principal.
  3. Responsible for the development of SASI data and coordination of data entry for the school site as it relates to the Accountability Data System Report (ADS), Student Movement, Electronic Grading and other functions of the SASI Student Management System as assigned.
  4. Assists in the development and implementation of the school's curriculum as directed
  5. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body.
  6. Assists in the orientation of new teachers and substitute teachers as directed.
  7. Assists in the evaluation of teachers as directed.
  8. Assists with interviews and recommends school employees to the Director of Personnel.
  9. Assists with the preparation of class schedules and extra-curricular activity schedules.
  10. Confers with parents, faculty and students to resolve problems relating to student growth and
  11. Assists in the supervision of corridors, campus, and school-sponsored activities as directed.
  12. Assists in the preparation of school handbooks.
  13. Provides reports required by the Superintendent and central office staff.
  14. Requisitions and maintains supplies and equipment, when directed.
  15. Cooperates in the safety inspections and safety drill activities.
  16. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance as directed.
  17. Provides an atmosphere, which promotes communication among faculty, staff, students, parents, and community, and also promotes a mutual understanding of concerns and opinions of each group.
  18. Participates in seminars, workshops and professional conferences for professional growth.
  19. Performs such other relevant tasks as may be assigned in a memo of note.

 

REPORTS TO:        Principal

 

SUPERVISES:        School staff as assigned by the Principal

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYEMENT:  Work year will be in accord with current schedule for 244-day employees.  The Superintendent will determine salary.
