POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: Director of Support Services

 

MININUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. New Mexico Public Education Department Licensure in Administration
  2. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  3. Minimum three (3) years administrative experience (Supervision Preferred)
  4. Knowledgeable of state and federal laws, court decisions, and other litigation relevant to Special Services Department.

 

OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION:  To coordinate with principals and teachers to ensure programs, policies and local guidelines are in compliance with all federal and state law.                                                                  

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  1. Follow local, state and federal law and adhere to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
  2. Ensure programs, polices, and local guidelines are in compliance with federal and state law.
  3. Implement a Social Emotional Learning Program designed to meet the social emotional needs of students.
  4. Support the District Social Emotional Learning Team and School Health Team (nurses/health assistants).
  5. Oversee Medicaid in the Schools.
  6. Serve as the district’s liaison for supporting students experiencing homelessness.
  7. Prepare reports required by the NMPED/Special Education Bureau concerning services/special education.
  8. Submit annual reports concerning student services to Chief Student Services Officer.
  9. Participate in seminars, workshops and professional conferences for professional growth.
  10. Collaboratively oversee the functions and operations of the Special Services Department including Educational Technology.
  11. Keep District Administrators informed of his/her responsibilities concerning compliance with all laws, regulations and administrative rules that affect special education/student service programs.
  12. Performs other tasks as may be assigned.

 

REPORTS TO:  Chief Student Services Officer

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year will be in accordance with current schedule for year-round employees.  Salary will be determined by the Superintendent.

 

EVALUATION:  Performances of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.

 

PHYSICAL LEVEL RATING: This position will require the employee to function at a “medium physical

capacity as defined by Workman’s Compensation statues. “Medium physical capacity indicates the ability

to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently. Work is performed primarily in

internal environments with possible exposure to inclement weather, and varying temperatures.
